Hey, world. I’m Alex and yep-I am incarcerated in the beautiful but dysfunctional state of Oregon. I have been on this strange vacation since 2019. In prison, we don’t have any real way to meet people, keeping ties with the free world is something I don’t want to lose. This is my first attempt of reaching outside these walls. I guess I’m looking for meaningful female friendship; something we don’t get in here.

Prison in Oregon is not like Shawshank Redemption. A lot of us are normal people who made a single mistake and are being warehoused for WAY too long. That aside, it’s not too bad here. In here I work five days as a GED tutor for Chemeketa Community College. It’s rewarding to help guys achieve an education. Before that, I was a prison maintenance locksmith (yes, ironic). I am working on my second college degree (paralegal) and researching my appeal. My sentence is long, but I am confident my rights will be vindicated and I’ll be out soon.

I manage/play on a softball team and play pickleball in our gym. My health is paramount and I exercise daily. I read all kinds of novels, what book is on your night stand? I am fueled by music. I listen to anything that triggers my emotions…what’s your favorite song/band?

My favorite quote: “It’s not before you’ve lost everything-that you are free to do anything”. If you know that quote, serious brownie points.
