Hello world, my name is Jean Carlos Cintron. I hope to use this platform to demonstrate that even though I'm in prison, I have not lost my humanity, therefore dismantling stereotypes and make meaningful connections. The fact that a platform like this exists and people are willing to engage with those of us while under these circumstances speaks volumes that words cannot do justice for. This platform is a good tool to create hope and bridge the gap between the carceral system and society. I will try to capture a fraction of the person I am within this short bio. I was born on the island of Puerto Rico, and am fluent in English and Spanish. Living in multicultural cities has given me versatility. I'm currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program through Western Michigan. I like engaging with people who can sharpen me with knowledge; whether spiritual, financial, legal advice, etc... People that can give me tools that are useful for me to navigate life. I'm an honest person who is direct about things. I'm a very motivated person constantly knocking on doors seeking to improve my quality of life. I want to communicate with people who share this mindset. I was given a life sentence at just 17 years old, and got that knocked down to 32 years. Now my support system and I are fighting to get more time knocked off to bring me home.
